What to Expect with Invisalign Treatment

If you’re thinking about straightening your teeth, fixing gaps, or correcting other dental flaws, you may have heard of Invisalign. This “invisible” orthodontic treatment system for adults doesn’t require you to drastically change your lifestyle like traditional braces. When you take advantage of Invisalign in Bonita Springs, you’re saying “yes” to a more beautiful smile on your terms.

Here’s what can you expect with this popular treatment.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign clear aligners are made of a smooth, plastic material that fit snugly over your teeth. Invisalign aligners are also transparent, so no one will ever know you’re wearing them. The aligners are custom made for you, moving your teeth using gentle, constant pressure. Adults are often done with treatment in just a year!

The Invisalign Process

At your Invisalign consultation, your dentist will create a personal treatment plan for you that includes a series of customized clear aligners. Your dentist will take impressions of your mouth and send these to an Invisalign lab, which will create a set of aligners designed to move your teeth. You’ll return to the dental office when the aligners are ready, and your dentist will make sure they fit perfectly.

Day-to-Day Wear

You’ll wear your aligners most of the time, removing them only to eat, brush, and floss. This means you won’t have to limit your favorite foods and don’t have to worry about food getting caught in brackets and wires.

Every couple of weeks, you will exchange your aligner for another one in your set, which ensures that your teeth continue moving in the right direction. Success with Invisalign treatment depends on consistently wearing the aligners and changing them at prescribed intervals, which is why adults and older teens do best with this system.
