Nitrous oxide is the mildest form of sedation we offer, while oral sedation offers a deeper level of relaxation. Here's what you should know.
Understanding Sedation Dentistry at Bonita Grande Dental
Dr. Gostigian aims to make your dental visits as comfortable as possible, and dental sedation is one way we do that. With two levels of sedation, we can ensure that patients feel comfortable throughout their dental procedures, no matter how complex the treatment gets.
Nitrous Oxide
This is a mixture of nitrous and oxygen gases delivered through an inhalation mask worn throughout your procedure. Nitrous oxide takes the edge off during treatment, helping you relax and feel at ease.
Nitrous oxide is safe for both children and adults, and we can use it for most procedures. It doesn't tend to leave side effects that linger, and it's safe for adults to drive after their treatment. Sedation with nitrous oxide gives you the treatment you need, allowing you to get right back to your normal activities.
Oral Sedation
This is a deeper level of sedation delivered through medication taken an hour before your treatment. You will need transportation arranged to and from your appointment because you can't drive while under the influence of the medication.
Oral sedation helps you feel like you're sleeping throughout your treatment, yet you're still responsive. The amnesic effects of the medication leave you with little to no memory of your procedure.
